Meet your soap maker
My name is Courtney Shaddock, and I am the founder of Pomelo Products. I grew up in “upstate” New York and moved to Wilmington, North Carolina with my family in early 2019. My favorite fun fact since I stumbled upon it in the dictionary at some point in high school is that the pomelo, which is a grapefruit, is also called a shaddock fruit.
About us
Since its beginning in March of 2025, Pomelo Products has strived to be as authentic as possible. This is why I’m not going to begin with an altruistic story about how I started to create soap with the goal of creating clean skincare for my children, or how this is how I’m pursuing my passion for entrepreneurship. To be honest, I started to create soap because I saw it on TikTok and it looked like a lot of fun. I am a crafty person, and once I see something new to try to learn I am all over it.
From there it has grown though into all the more altruistic things it could have been in the beginning! While learning about soap making, I was also learning about what goes into the products I use on my skin every day. I realized that I could provide a service to my family in creating products that weren’t filled with mystery ingredients and then extend that to my community as well. My business dreams have developed as I realized that soapmaking was both something I enjoy doing, and something that I could do to support my famiy as well.
Our goal at Pomelo Products is to create cleaner skincare, and to enjoy doing it so every item on our selves is made with love and pride. I want to make beautiful soap and explore all the benefits that utilizing natural ingredients can offer, as well as fun, funky bars that have scents and colors that pop. Using soap as a base for household cleaners is an interest of mine as well, so keep an eye out for new products as I grow and develop!
